Bidding Inside the Studio
If you’re joining us for dinner in the studio, you can register for bidding and be issued a bidder number, placed on the back of your printed auction catalog. To actively bid, just hold up your catalog / bidder number for the auctioneer to see. Keep in mind you’re competing with others in the room as well as callers watching at home.
Bidding by Phone
When you see a piece announced on air for bidding, call us immediately:
- 550-8484 in Anchorage
- 1-800-478-5256 outside Anchorage, toll-free
We have a total of 10 phone bidders to take your call and bid with you. If you don’t get through, hang up and keep trying — many times bidders on the phone will drop out as prices rise, thus freeing a phone line for a new bidder.
NOTE: Our TV signal is slightly delayed from actual events in the studio — up to several seconds. Therefore, turn down your TV’s volume while on the phone and simply listen to and talk with your bidding operator. They will keep you informed of current bids.
Official Bidding Rules & Procedures
- Live bidding is done by phone and from the live bidding audience.
- Each item will be taken to bid completion during the Live Art Showcase Auction. The highest bidder will be contacted as the successful bidder. If a pre bid from the Art Preview or a timely faxed pre-bid form remains the highest bid after bid completion, then the bidder making the pre bid will be contacted as the successful bidder.
- Each item being offered will be described, including the item number and title.
- If you see an item on which you wish to bid, immediately dial 550-8484 (in Anchorage) or 1-800-478-5256 (outside Anchorage) to initiate bidding.
- The operator must take your name and phone number before you are allowed to bid.
- The operator will tell you the highest current bid.
- There are up to 9 other simultaneous phone bidders plus a variable number of in-studio bidders that you are potentially bidding against.
- In the event of two identical bids, the Auctioneer reserves the right to determine which bid he or she considers first.
- If you are the highest bidder, a confirmation operator will call you within one hour of the item’s sale to give you instructions for picking up and paying for your item.
- For complete auction rules, be sure to review the Auction Terms page.
